About Our Owner
Anyone who’s had the pleasure of meeting Damien knows there’s a very special place in his heart reserved just for pizza. It goes far beyond a genuine appreciation for high quality, fresh ingredients and well-made food. The entire Polizzi family’s love for great pizza stems from how it universally brings people together. Just one slice of a really good pie can create so much joy and THAT is a gift that’s not wasted on any Polizzi family member!
It all started back in the 1950’s when Damien’s Nonno opened a grocery store in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. They started serving up traditional Sicilian pies and generations of Polizzi’s followed. Damien literally grew up in the pizza making business, learning from his father and Uncles. He’s actually been rolling pizza dough since the tender age of just four!
Out of high school, Damien attended culinary school before diving elbow deep into the pizza business for himself. While successful, he eventually decided to pull his hands out of the pizza dough to be more hands on in supporting his family including his loving wife, Jessica, and their three beautiful children.
Some years passed, and Damien flourished in his sales management career, but the Polizzi family passion for pizza was still going strong. It was truly reignited when Neo-Neapolitan style pizza started trending in the industry. Damien immediately started testing new recipes at home and, because the Polizzi’s enjoy hosting, it only made sense to install their very own backyard brick oven.
Not long after, friends, neighbors, and the entire community started buzzing about the Polizzi’s delicious brick oven pizza. Then, a family dinner-table discussion convinced Damien to go back into the pizza business and the concept for Polizzi’s Brick Oven was born.
Today, Damien proudly works alongside his first-born, Nicholas at their brick and mortar restaurant Polizzi’s Brick Oven. Damien is a certified pizzaiolo, the owner of Polizzi’s Brick Oven in Sewell, NJ (go TWP!) as well as Polizzi’s Original Italian Pizza located in Tyrone, PA.
Polizzi’s Brick Oven is the first establishment to proudly serve Damien Polizzi’s original recipes including PBO’s famous “313” Detroit style pizza, Neo-Neapolitans, Sicilians, New Haven style pies, specialty sandwiches, cheesesteaks and more.
